After witnessing a lot of leaked information about the device online, Xiaomi officially launched Redmi 9 in Spain on 10th June. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 comes with four-cameras, the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, 18W fast-charging, and an aggressive price tag. The device has been equipped with out-of-the-box Android 10 and MIUI 12.
Specifications of Redmi 9
The dual-sim standby phone’s structure boasts a polycarbonate material in a gradient color design. The vertical array of cameras on the rear of Redmi 9 also consists of a fingerprint sensor/scanner. The back of the device features a textured design that prevents marks and fingerprints to keep your phone looking brand new. Other than its internal storage, you get a dedicated slot to insert the MicroSD card.
The front of the Redmi 9 attracts with a 6.53” FHD+ LCD display, which is a major upgrade over Redmi 8’s HD+ display. Xiaomi claims that the phone has an 89.93% screen-to-body ratio or 19.5:9 with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and 400 nits of brightness. To allow you long screen time without eye strain, Xiaomi has designed this phone with blue light certification. The front of this smartphone is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with a waterdrop notch, which accommodates the selfie camera.
The smartphone is carrying forward the circular camera design of Redmi K30 with a vertical quad-camera array on the rear. The rear camera structure is as follows:

MediaTek Helio G80 chipset powers the Redmi 9 to support high-end games and applications. 4GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage are combined to increase the efficiency of this game-centric chipset. The company claims that the processor is 309% faster than the previous generation, the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU 950 MHz.
The huge battery life of 5,020 mAh in its specs provides you the power you need for gaming, watching movies, or making phone calls. The brand box contains a 10W charger with a USB-C cable. Xiaomi has made this device to support 18W fast charging, if you have one so you can power up your device on the go.
Availability & Cost
Xiaomi has launched Redmi 9 in two variants in Spain – 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB for €149 and €179 respectively. The competitive price of this entry-level phone could be between Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 16,000 in India, which is not confirmed yet.
Redmi 9 has been launched in three colors, Sunset purple, Ocean green, and Carbon gray. The sale is starting from 18th June in Spain and the date is not confirmed for India. But retailers like Banggood and Gearbest are offering the smartphone, from $139, but as the phone will be shipped from Hong Kong or China so make sure to check the tariffs and additional taxes.
